Extending collaborative consumption concept to yacht charter services: The case of Blue Voyage

Collaborative consumption (CC) is a form of sharing in which participants jointly conduct services thereby creating variety benefits ranging from economic to social. CC has been widely studied the hospitality industry, but yacht charter have not examined within this concept. Customer-to-customer interaction, an important element value-creation process, discussed together with CC. The purpose study extend concept regarding as new field study. Blue Voyage, used research context, corresponds Turkish that describes circumstances voyagers live limited space and share all provided for week. Twenty-four in-depth interviews were conducted demographically diverse experienced or potential customers along auto-ethnographic research. data analyzed via content analysis result three categories emerged core benefits, perceived risks, expected service elements. According findings, intense customer-to-customer interactions due are inevitable yacht, satisfies social needs while also triggering risks related sharing. results offer implications such interaction-collaborative- based services.
